Obituary for Betty Jean Mauldin (Tolbert)

Betty Jean Tolbert Mauldin, 73, of Vale passed away Friday, November 18, 2022 at her home. Born August 25th, 1949 she was the daughter of the late James Everett Tolbert and Lucille "Cindy" Jones Floyd. She graduated from Hickory High School in 1967 and then attended Caldwell Community College where she graduated in 1969 as an LPN Nurse. She then worked as a skilled nurse, finishing the last 17 years of her career at Trinity Village. She loved being a nurse and the time she spent with her patients was always special. David and her enjoyed spending their time at the beach, going to gem and mineral shows, and listening to music, Elvis specifically. She will be greatly missed by all of those who are left to cherish her memories.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years David Mauldin; a daughter Bonnie Flory (Johann) of Hickory; a son Bryan Mauldin (Maria) of Longview; a sister Amy Lowe of Hickory; a grandson Lewis David Smith (Aleesha) of Lenoir; two great-grandchildren Sophie Smith and Amiah Smith both of Lenoir; a mother-in-law Ann Sulteen of Hickory; two sister-in-laws Mary Anne Howard (Nelson) of Hickory and Tina Sipe (Rod) of Hickory; a brother-in-law Steve Mauldin of Vale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother Randy Tolbert; and a brother-in-law Donald "Buzzy" Lowe.

The Celebration of Life will be 2:00 PM Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Open Door Baptist Church at 3310 Main Ave NW, Hickory, NC 28601 with Pastor Shawn Davis officiating.

Caring Cremations staff is not involved in the memorial service at the church.
