Obituary for Dan Arthur Lookadoo
Dan Arthur Lookadoo was a joyful free spirit who loved life and watermelon. He was a decorated master sergeant in the Air Force, dedicating 20 years and 26 days to the service of his country and earning his bachelor’s degree from the Community College of the Air Force. He earned a master’s degree from Virginia Tech and was a professor and dean at New River Community College in Dublin, Virginia.
He loved God, his family, his friends, his coworkers, and his god-dogs and he was a joyous and protective husband, father, and grandfather. Dan loved to cruise and travel with his wife of 49 years, driving across the country six times and brightening the world with his goofy jokes.
Dan was 72 when he passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at his Hickory home. Born, November 23rd, 1949, he was the son of the late Johnnie (JV) Vosco Lookadoo and Essie Stallings Lookadoo.
In addition to his wife Kay Crouch Lookadoo, he is survived by his daughter Michelle Fraser and husband Patrick of Burbank, CA; two sisters Sandra Wise of Maiden, Evelyn Agee of Newton; brothers Rick Lookadoo and wife Cathy of Conover, Boyce Lookadoo and wife Janie of Hickory; and his grandson Carter Fraser of Burbank, CA.
The funeral will be 10:00 am Thursday July 14, 2022 at The Celebration Center of Jenkins funeral Home in Newton, NC - 4081 Startown Road Newton NC 28658 with Pastor Todd Rudisill officiating the service.
The family will have a private burial and will receive friends following the service.
