Obituary for Karen Smith

Karen Lynneettee Smith, 59, of Connelly Springs went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, March 6, 2023, at Frye Regional Medical Center surrounded by family. Born July 19th, 1963, she was the daughter of the late Carroll Moses Smith and Louise Reed Smith. Karen loved going to church and spending time with her family and friends, especially at the hair salon. Karen adored all her children. Her grandchildren and great granddaughters were her greatest accomplishments in life. She would spoil them every chance she had. Karen loved her animals and gardening when she was able. She was a giver. Karen would give her time and her resources to anyone in need. She had the best laugh that will continue to echo in our minds every single day. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter Charlene Long, husband Edmund of Hickory; four sons Steven Malcomb of Morganton, Roger Blalock III, wife Nicole of Advance, Michael Blalock of Winston Salem, and Ricky Blalock, wife Ashley of Morganton; her fiancé Gaspar Mendoza Solis (Julio) of Connelly Springs; fifteen grandchildren Caleb Ledford, wife Katlyn, Austin Ledford, fiancé Julie; Kylie Parker, Luke Long, Gavin Blalock, Reilly Carson, Nevaeh Malcomb, Madison Purvis, William Purvis III, Maegan Purvis, Isabella Blalock, Hailey Blalock, Reagan Blalock, Caleb Stone, and Ethan Blalock; two great-grandchildren Piper and Hazel Ledford; and a brother Richard Phillips of Florida. She has several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a grandson Jacob Blalock; a sister Louise Jones; and a brother Gary Wayne Phillips.

A memorial service is planned on Sunday March 19, 2023 at 12:30 PM at Spirit and Truth Worship Center at 685 Jones Road, Winston-Salem, NC, 27107. The family invites everyone to attend the regular Sunday worship service that begins at 10:00 AM so that you can experience what she loved so much about this church.
