Obituary for Stewart Allison Robbins

Stewart Allison Robbins, 68, of Hickory, NC passed away Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at Carolina Caring Catawba Valley Hospice House.

Stewart was born in Hickory, September 22, 1953, to the late John Peter Robbins Jr., and the late Lucy Jessica Hudson Robbins.

He graduated from Hickory High School and worked in construction all his life--first with Moss-Marlowe of Hickory for many years and later when he formed his own company-Robbins Building Company.
In recent years, Stewart loved walking the property with his wife and best friend, Sandy along with their two beloved dogs, Mocha, and Mia. All his life he was one with nature and had a passion for hunting and fishing with his friends. Big game in Alaska and other parts of North America; fishing and hunting in NC, SC, GA, and VA and on his properties brought him peace. Boating and skiing were also a big part of his life for many years that he shared with friends and family. He enjoyed many of these hunting, fishing, and skiing adventures with his much-loved late son, John Russell (Rusty) Robbins. Stewart and Rusty were both champion water skiers. They especially loved skiing with Eddie and Clay Neil.

He enjoyed showing the treasures from his many hunts with family and friends when they came to visit. His accompanying commentary of exaggerated stories will be remembered for years to come and continue to bring smiles to all who were fortunate to hear his tales—he was always quite the storyteller!

Surviving him are his loving wife, Sandy Kunkle Robbins of Hickory, her two children Matt and Stephanie; brother J. Michael Robbins of Hickory; sister Phyllis Robbins Hefner and husband, Daniel of Winston Salem; brother-in-law Rick Heatley of Richmond, VA; nephews Nathan Heatley of Powhatan, VA.; Morgan Hefner of Raleigh, NC and Patrick Robbins of Hickory, NC; niece Hudson Heatley of Atlanta, GA. Along with family, Stewart also had long time special friends that include: Scott Jeffries, Kim Wiles, Ed Vinay, Ed Bowman and a special new friend, Clay Grise′.

Along with his parent's and son, he is preceded in death by his sisters Esther Robbins Heatley of Lexington, VA and Mary Ann Robbins of Raleigh, NC.

The family would also like to recognize all the medical professionals that aided Stewart throughout the years, such as Dr. John Meier and his assistant Patricia of Gastroenterology Associates, Dr. Mark Russo and Dr. David Iannitti of Atrium Health of Charlotte.

The Celebration of Life will be 3:00 PM Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Hickory Elks Lodge 1654, at 356 Main Ave. NW, Hickory, NC 28601.
